![]() | Our safari trip provided by World Travel Dreams and personally hosted by Kathy Gailey proved to be the trip of a lifetime. Kathy utilized CAT Safaris as her in Kenya host. Mahinda Nderitu, owner of CAT Safaris and Kathy Gailey planned and provided a wonderful and exciting Kenyan adventure. From the time of our pre-travel orientation session, Kathy and Mahinda kept everything running like clockwork. Kathy saw to our every need on the flight to Kenya. Mahinda and his drivers met us at the Nairobi airport. After a night’s rest we shoved off on safari with hosts Kathy and Mahinda with us all the way until we departed twelve days later. At every turn they provided comfort and safety for us and our fifteen travelling companions. The Safaris trip route and selection of excellent accommodations provided us with almost continuous excitement throughout the trip. Our primary goal was to see and photograph African wildlife. In this regard, we were not disappointed. We saw the “Big 5” and many other animals, birds, and of course the giant African crocodile. Sometimes we would be viewing the wildlife at a lighted water hole. Other times, our adventure took us into many of the great wildlife preserves in the various regions of Kenya. The CAT Safaris drivers were not only expert drivers, navigating challenging and muddy roads, but they also were very knowledgeable in finding, identifying and telling us about the habits of the animals and birds of Africa. The drivers were gracious, extremely helpful and delightful. Our accommodations were beyond our expectations, and our meals were excellent and provided great selection and variety. Some other highlights of our trip were our stay at a seaside resort in Mombasa, a night dining cruise, visits to a giraffe center, a chimpanzee center, shopping, and visiting a Masai village. We crossed the equator three times, viewed Mt. Kenya, stood on the banks of the Mara River, gazed at the awesome Serengeti and twice crossed the Great Rift Valley. How could you ask for more? Thanks to Kathy Gailey of World Travel Dreams and Mahinda with CAT Safaris. ![]() Posted By: Horace and Peggy Crawford Pleasanton,CA |
![]() | I've wanted to make this trip for such along time and finally my dream came true last October. The trip organized by CAT Safaris was extraordinary. It had everything I expected and more. George, our marvelous guide, greeted at the airport and guided us through the whole trip. He was not only knowledgeable about animals and native customs he was patient while always delighting us with a great sense of humor. This was especially helpful given the roads in Kenya. As we drove from site to site, George kept telling us that there was Mount Kenya but it was always in the clouds I despaired of ever catching it with clouds lifted. Well some how the spirits were with us because while staying at a mountain Lodge in Mount Kenya Forest the clouds lifted and there she was in all her magnificence. All of our accommodations were beautiful and lush. Even, one tented site in the Maasai Mara was the most luxurious tent I’ve every stayed in but at the same time so atmospheric for the middle of a national game reserve. Not only did we experience beautiful sunsets and game drives but could choose optional visits to tribal villages where the Samburu, Turkana and Maasai performed native rituals and dances for us. Another option was a gorgeous hot air balloon ride over the Maasai Mara culminating with a Champagne breakfast. Thank you for helping me realize my fantasy. ![]() Posted By: Judith Sweeney Retired Accountant, Boston |
![]() | An African Dream!!My husband,Ed and I first went to Kenya 26 years ago, unaware of the tug on our heart-strings it would become. Some how we lost count of the visits years ago, somewhere around 15 or 18, we think. Each trip has given us memories that mesh together into a country and people that we love and respect. Every trip holds it's own magic and suprises--an elephant who had learned that a high electric fence would hurt for a few seconds before he could break through to the shamba's crops. The rangers were forced to shoot it. Villagers carried the meat home on sticks over the shoulder. A large chunk of the bright red meat was brought to me, but I declined--on the grounds of already having eaten! With Kenya's vast range of landscapes-hot and dry Samburu or cool and lush highlands or humid Mombasa,it is a country holding amazing herds of animals, where they still are able to live free. Few people come away from Kenya without a strong desire to return, because they understand that each trip is a jewel they have with them for the rest of their lives. ![]() Posted By: Bonnie Castillo Honokaa, Hawaii |
![]() | Best Ever Safari!! I thought with a little time and distance that the words would come easier. I still find it difficult to try to formulate ideas and words that would convey our experience. We knew it would be the trip of a lifetime and it was. We knew we were going to see a lot of people, country, culture and animals and we did. We were sure we would enjoy it and we did - tremendously. Now that we are back, it happened so fast, it almost seems like a dream. We didn't know we would fall in love with Kenya and we did! Selecting CAT Safaris was the best decision we made. Mahinda was as excited about our trip as we were. We were met at the airport by Charles & Godfrey, our guide for the trip. From that moment on, we just relaxed, showed up at the pre-arranged times for going out into the parks. The hotels were more beautiful and comfortable than we expected, each with it's own flavor and usually a waterhole in front for all day viewing in case you would rather spend the day there than out in the van. We saw everything we set out to see and some things we didn't. Godfrey was able to find the animals for us and give us great opportunities for photos. He was not only our guide but also our mentor and we are very grateful to him for introducing country and sharing it with us. He had patience far beyond what should be expected. The only regrets I have is that I didn't take more pictures (25 rolls was not enough) and we should have taken more ballpoint pens and candy for Godfrey to give out to the children sprinkled along the road. I would highly recommend CAT Safaris to anyone even contemplating a safari. It is a beginning and, as Charles told us, "You will leave here different people than when you came." Thank you so much for the opportunity you gave us. When we go back, CAT Safaris is the first number we will call. Asante sana! ![]() Posted By: Cathy & Glenn Swedelius Minnesota |
