C.A.T Safaris is committed to responsible tourism. We see this as finding the right balance between the demands of holidaymakers and protecting the environment we promote, be this on an environmental, cultural or economic level.
We are particularly conscious that our work should benefit the local communities. To this end we support local charities in each of our destination countries. These focus primarily on local communities rather than wildlife and for each holiday we arrange to a given region/country, we make donations to the chosen local charity. Our customers receive information about the organizations we support in the areas they are visiting.
Whenever possible we use local guides. These guides are able to provide informative commentary as well as convey a genuine enthusiasm for the area visited, both of which are likely to enhance your experience.
Our donations go directly to the causes in question and are not spent on administrative activities.
Asante Africa Foundation
Asante Africa Foundation began with a vision. While trekking on safari through the beautiful lands of Tanzania and Kenya in late 2005, Erna Grasz and her husband met several people from local villages and communities who warmed their hearts and inspired them along their journey. Many people they encountered were working hard to develop solutions to their community's persistent problems—lack of access to basic resources of food and water, environmental degradation, lack of access to education, disease and malnourishment, and many others. One woman whom they came to know, was in the process of building a school, brick by brick, stone by stone, to help provide a place of education for the children of a local village. Struck by this act of generosity, Erna returned to the United States researching further ways to support development efforts in Tanazania and Kenya.
Time and again, Erna was struck by the power of that generous act of building a school and its potential to transform a community from the inside out by educating the future leaders of the society. Having been a life-long believer in the power of leadership development and quality education to change lives, Erna sought to provide the youth of these sister countries with the same benefits of education that she had come to know herself. As a result, Asante Africa Foundation was founded and incorporated in the state of California in August 2006.
The Power of education
At Asante Africa Foundation, we envision an Africa where children can attend school and receive quality education as a means to define their futures and build a better society. Quality education is made available by building and securing physical infrastructures for all children attending school, providing teaching resources and educational materials, and by offering scholarships and sponsorships for highly motivated and academically gifted children.
What We Believe
Every child deserves an education and the opportunity to choose their future, regardless of the longitude or latitude in which they are born. Through education, children can make their dreams a reality, help their families struggle less, and help their communities become self-sustaining.
Asante Foundation Vision
We envision African communities and families in which the children have the opportunity to receive quality education to define their futures.
Mission
We provide comprehensive solutions, addressing education needs on several fronts:
Partnership Approach
We achieve our vision and mission through in-country collaboration with passionate trustworthy individuals who act as our in-country program managers. They live and breathe the dream and hope of creating a better life and stronger communities in the villages where they live and work.
We believe strongly that it is not our place to provide western solutions to the others’ communities, and rely on local contacts to propose solutions that work within their communities and cultures.
Our in-country program managers live and breathe the dream of creating better education where they live and work. We respect and support local leaders' proposed solutions in harmony with their cultures and communities.
